Curriculum Overview.

Every student at Wade Deacon has the opportunity to study Business as an option subject. Business is taught in connection with Enterprise and links with local organisations in the community. In Years 9, 10 and 11 students are divided into sets depending on their ability taking into account both their Maths and English skills. All Business Studies groups have 5 lessons each fortnight.

GCSE Business Studies Reporting

 

Year 9

 

P2S2: During this round students have studied theory for their unit 1 examination – ‘Introduction to Business’, which is worth 25% of their final grade at the end of Year 11. Students have been assessed through the completion of a paper covering all topics completed at this stage and their ability to apply their knowledge using their examination techniques.  The assessments have been marked using the marking criteria provided by the Edexcel exam board and are graded A*- G.  At this stage students would be expected to be achieving their Year 9 MEG.

 

Year 10

 

P2S2: During this round students have studied theory for their unit 1 examination – ‘Introduction to Business’, which is worth 25% of their final grade at the end of Year 11.  Students have been assessed through the completion of a paper covering all topics completed at this stage and ability to apply their knowledge using their examination techniques.  The assessments have been marked using the marking criteria provided by the Edexcel exam board and are graded A*-G.  At this stage students would be expected to be achieving their MEG.

 

Year 11

 

P2S1: During this round students have been studying theory for Unit 4 (Business Communications -50%) during lesson time and Unit 1 (Introduction to Business - 25%) through extended learning activities. Students have been assessed through the completion of a Unit 1 and Unit 4 GCSE past paper. The assessments have been marked using the marking criteria provided by the Edexcel exam board and are graded A*-G. At this stage students would be expected to be working at one grade below their MEG.  Year 11 students have also completed a controlled assessment activity, which is worth 25% of their final grade.
