As part of our Roald Dahl celebrations, students and staff have taken part in our annual Bruce Bogtrotter Cake Eating Fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Bruce Bogtrotter ‘An Extra Slice’ as usual, involved 3 hapless teachers ( voted for by the students ) having five minutes to devour as much of Morrison’s delicious chocolate cake as they could in front of a crowd of at least 700 students in our main hall.
This year’s competitors were Vice Principal Mr Critchley, Progress Leader of Year 7, Mr Deeney and Head of Foreign Languages, Miss Whitfield and it was Miss Whitfield’s strategy of squashing the cake flat that won the day and the Bruce Bogtrotter Trophy. Interviewed by Year 7 student Thomas Haigh, Miss Whitfield said: ‘I went on line the previous night to look at strategies for cake eating and that research ( and a bit of cheating ) paid off!’
Funds raised via cake sales throughout the day amounted to £307.66 – a record for us with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer support with our love and best wishes.
