Music

Music is delivered as a Curriculum timetabled lesson at Year 9,10 & 11 who receive 5 lessons over two weeks.

Music lessons are taught in a purpose built department inclusive of a dedicated teaching room with a suite of 30 iMacs and MIDI keyboards. In addition, the department also boasts a total of four practice rooms and two larger ensemble rooms. These rooms are used by our team of peripatetic staff who deliver instrumental lessons on woodwind, brass, strings, drum kit, guitar & vocals and for pupils to practice independently.

Reporting & Assessment:

It is expected that grades achieved at P2S1 may be graded around F-G grades for year 10/11 and lower numerical values for years 7 -9. For example, MEG = 7 may average out at value of 4 or 5 at P2S1 due to the nature of timetabled lessons being fortnightly. From this initial starting point pupils will gradually accumulate an improvement in knowledge and skills as each unit of the course is covered, tested and consolidated. It is expected that grades improve at different rates depending on the areas of strength and areas for development demonstrated by each candidate in relation to the units delivered each year.
