Between 9th-13th August the school ran a Summer School programme focused on supporting the transition of Year 6 students joining Wade Deacon in September 2021. This programme included a range of activities designed to build positive relationships and break down barriers for students, such as arts sessions, literacy and numeracy challenges and team-building events. Students were also introduced to key staff (such as their Personal Tutors and Learning Mentors) and given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school.
In addition, selected disadvantaged students in Y7 and Y8 engaged in literacy and numeracy activities designed to build confidence and positive attitudes.
In total, 435 places were offered, including 147 to Pupil Premium students. 350 students took up places, including 77 Pupil Premium students. The school received £17,490 funding which was allocated to cover staffing costs (£13,100), catering (£2,544) and resources (£1,846).
