Wade Deacon High School is delighted to celebrate another year of outstanding GCSE results, with pupils achieving success right across the curriculum.
These outcomes reflect the hard work, determination and resilience of our young people, supported by dedicated staff and families who have worked alongside them throughout their journey.
This year's results continue a strong pattern of success and demonstrate the high aspirations that define Wade Deacon High School. Pupils have excelled across a wide range of subjects.
Over three quarters of all grades awarded were a grade 4 or above, with nearly two thirds of all entries awarded a Grade 5 or above. This reflects the tremendous work of pupils and staff and ensures pupils have the best opportunities to progress to the next level of education or training.
On an individual level, two pupils achieved the exceptional accolade of a full suite of Grade 9s which is a truly incredible achievement. Additionally, the school celebrated a further 6 pupils who achieved eight Grade 9s: a remarkable achievement.
The Widnes school is also celebrating the results of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who have overcome significant challenges to achieve personal and academic success, demonstrating remarkable perseverance and determination.
Ensuring that background is never a barrier to achievement remains central to the school’s Commitment to Excellence and the Class of 2026’s results highlight the positive impact of sustained support, high expectations and unwavering belief in every child's potential where every young person can thrive.
Brendan Hesketh, Executive Principal at Wade Deacon High School, commented:
“We are delighted to celebrate the Class of 2026 whose achievements reflect both exceptional individual commitment and our shared culture of ambition.
“While examination results are important, they tell only part of the story. Behind every grade is a young person who has developed confidence, character and resilience. We celebrate not only academic success, but also the personal growth that prepares our pupils for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
“I would like to thank our staff for their unwavering dedication and expertise, and our parents and carers for their continued support. Most importantly, I congratulate our pupils, whose efforts have made today possible. These results build on years of continued success and demonstrate what can be achieved when ambition, hard work and opportunity come together.”

It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of responsibility that I write to introduce myself to you as the Executive Principal of Wade Deacon High School. It is an honour to join such a distinctive, supportive and committed school community.
I have always held a strong belief in the transformative power of education and my aim at Wade Deacon High School is very simple. I want us to be the best school in the country, and I will not rest until that has been achieved.
Young people should leave school with outstanding exam results. This will help them to acquire the powerful knowledge that they require to be successful in life and gives them life chances and choices. Our students also deserve a curriculum diet which is rich in experience and offers them the opportunities to develop character, resilience and independence. I want everyone at Wade Deacon High School to be safe, happy and to achieve.
