Principal's Welcome

It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of responsibility that I write to introduce myself to you as the new Executive Principal of Wade Deacon High School. It is an honour to join such a distinctive, supportive and committed school community.

I have worked in education as a senior leader for over twenty years in a wide range of schools and I have been a Principal and a Trust Director of Education since 2013. This includes six years as the Principal of an Ofsted outstanding school. My experiences have all given me extensive experience of raising aspirations, improving outcomes, and nurturing the personal development of every student. I am also a very proud parent of two boys and one girl.

I have always held a strong belief in the transformative power of education and my aim at Wade Deacon High School is very simple. I want us to be the best school in the country, and I will not rest until that has been achieved.

Young people should leave school with outstanding exam results. This will help them to acquire the powerful knowledge that they require to be successful in life and gives them life chances and choices. Our students also deserve a curriculum diet which is rich in experience and offers them the opportunities to develop character, resilience and independence. I want everyone at Wade Deacon High School to be safe, happy and to achieve.

I was drawn towards Wade Deacon High School by the Commitment to Excellence. High expectations in a supportive environment results in excellent behaviour, excellent attendance, excellent punctuality, excellent uniform, excellent organisation, an excellent work ethic, excellent outcomes and incredibly successful young people. Get the basics right and everything else falls into place.

As Executive Principal of Wade Deacon High School, I will continue to build on our many strengths, working with staff, students, governors, and of course, you. I believe that strong partnerships between school and home are vital, and I am committed to maintaining open communication with you all. The stronger the partnership between school and home, the more likely it is that our young people will achieve better.

Thank you for your continued support. I am truly excited about what we can achieve together.

Mr Brendan Hesketh BA (Hons), PGCE, NPQH
Executive Principal
