I was born in Widnes and was educated in the town at Farnworth Infants, Simms Cross Juniors, and Fairfield High Schools. I have also lived and worked in the local community for most of my life. I trained as a nurse and worked in the NHS in Warrington and in the local community before moving into the Chemical industry and qualifying as a Health and Safety practitioner. I have been married for more than 40 years and have two sons and 2 grandsons. I am now retired and enjoy keeping fit, patchwork and quilting, reading and spending time with our two grandsons.
I became a school governor more than 20 years ago when our sons were at school and have always had a keen interest in education. As a lifelong learner myself I have never lost my enthusiasm for the power of education and the opportunities it presents for all children.
