Friday 13th June, 3:15pm. The sun was shining, the excitement was off the charts, and the generosity of our school community was on full display as Year 11 took to the field for our Charity Match Showdown in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity.
As our amazing students filled the spectator area, donations came pouring in — thank you to every student, parent, and carer who gave so generously to a cause that means so much to us all.
What followed was a thrilling, hard-fought battle between Maybury’s Mavericks and Harrison’s Hurricanes, with the momentum swinging back and forth like a pendulum on turbo-speed! Mr Campbell kept us on the edge of our seats with his energetic live commentary, narrating every twist, turn, and near-miss!
The crowd was electric — your cheers, your energy, your spirit — you made the match unforgettable. The skill, effort, and heart on the pitch from our boys and girls was second to none. At full time, the scoreboard read 4–4… and then came the drama of penalties — with Harrison’s Hurricanes clinching the win!
But this wasn’t just about football.
It was about community, remembrance, and hope. Together, we honoured two very special and brave members of our Wade Deacon family — and the incredible friends who stood by them. They were with us in spirit, and their presence was felt in every cheer, every goal, and every smile.
To our incredible Year 11s — your willingness to give your time, passion, and energy during such a busy time is truly inspiring. You’ve left a legacy of heart, leadership, and togetherness.
Huge thanks to Mr Mitchell, Mr Power, Mr Campbell, Mr Maybury, and Mrs Harrison — your energy and dedication made this special moment possible.
Year 11, you reminded us all today why you are such outstanding role models. We’re so proud of you.
To Kian and Bobby.
Forever in our hearts. Forever part of our story.
